There was never a 'civil war' in Europe that ended slavery. Even Jefferson Davis thought slavery would eventually end and not everyone in the south wanted its expansion.
And of course there was the draft riots in NY after the emancipation. Those benevolent northerners didn't want cheap labor taking their jobs.
Fast forward and when busing was forced on the US in the 1970's, where were the most protest, riots ect. In the north of course
