capable of reaching the Final Four or even winning the national title. Obviously, we haven't had great luck in the NCAA tournament, but we have gotten there plenty of times and had numerous opportunities.
To answer your question, I think Mizzou held on to Norm Stewart too long.
The next coach, Quin Snyder, was able to reach the Elite 8 quickly, but that ended due to an unfortunate and poorly handled situation.
The next coach, Mike Anderson, was ALSO able to reach the Elite 8 quickly, but he left for his dream job at Arkansas where he had coached under Nolan Richardson as an assistant for 18 years.
The next coach, Frank Haith, had mixed results but more success at Mizzou than he had at his previous P5 gig. The team that lost to Norfolk State as a 2 seed was a Final Four caliber team, but bad luck struck again.
Then Kim Anderson won a D-2 national title at the exact same time Frank Haith departed, the kind of timing that would only happen to Mizzou. So, we told Ben Howland "no thanks" and hired the True Son instead.
There are many reasons why Mizzou has never reached its full potential, a lot of it involves what I would describe as bad luck.
