the road and what happens to the road when one party to that contract simply ceases to exist.

No government = no easement holder, dumb****.

The point of that question was to show your obtuse pal that if the govt ceased to exist tomorrow, life wouldn't go on just the same - i.e. he/you wouldn't just get in your car & drive to work/the grocery store, etc.

fwiw, we do have a couple of "former roads" on our family farm - road changed/closed, so yes, I know first hand that that land is retained by the deed holder.

Please explain why this message is being reported.
