As if, people only trade because a large US national debt exists? Seriously, that is a liberal level understanding of markets and exchange.

Yes, there would be a significant correction in the economy, and it would cause serious pain for a short period of time while resources were finally moved away from govt boondoggles and toward productive means. But, that is desperately needed.

This is how I translate your post: I, Ferg, own US treasury bonds and I expect the US govt to uphold its end of the bargain in stealing the money to clear those bonds.
