their ceiling (undefeated season) and their floor(zero wins) is exactly the same as it is for every team, starting off every year.

I know you're talking about "anticipated" performance or "expected" performance, but no one knows that. No one. Will they get worked by a bigger team with lots of talent? Sure. Most teams do.
