just five schools (Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and LSU, who combine for 15 of 24 total appearances in the college football playoffs).
The others went to Oregon (three recruits; made CFP in 2014-15), Texas A&M (two; head coach took FSU to CFP in 2014-15), Notre Dame (one; CFP in 2018-19), Washington (one; CFP in 2016-17), South Carolina (one), Florida (one), Texas (one), and Maryland (one).
One of the 31 five-star players originally signed with Georgia before being released from his LOI; he's currently unsigned.
So I'd argue the concentration of wealth already exists. The top players are committing to the top schools 90% of the time. If Alabama and Georgia and LSU and the like want to throw money at recruits in a bidding war, it won't affect us anyway. Those schools generally get the guys they want when their primary competition is a school like Missouri. When they miss on a guy they truly want, it usually means that player signs with another elite program.
