What in the world???
You said it is 'absurd' how long it has been since your program has been ranked in the Top 25 polls. That implies that standing in the polls in college basketball has meaning. And is something that is desirous. Does it not? Pointing out how your program received votes in those polls over a six year span does not also suggest that? How was that 'misconstrued'?
So are/is standing in the polls of any value in the sport of college basketball? If so, then would you regard you-know-who's record of seasons ranked in the upper echelon of those polls to still be 'meaningless' or something your program aspires to?
Does a 'real person', after their team loses a basketball game, claim that their team was "not going to be able to win regardless of our performance" because the outcome was "not decided by the competitors on the court"?
