assume that human beings are "special" in the sense that they have an inherent dignity and worth far above and beyond other animals in an atheistic paradigm, and regardless of their skills and abilities and "worth" from a purely humanistic standpoint.
I agree with the author and the atheists and philosophers who have pondered the question that no, their really is no logical reason to place humans necessarily above the other animals if one does not believe in God. I would go even further and state that man would be held in lower esteem in religions that do believe in God, but do not believe that man is made in the image and likeness of God as the Christians do.
I realize and understand that you disagree, but can you give a logical explanation for why you disagree? Merely throwing out insults isn't much of an argument really.
