to bring in freshmen in his first class. He chose a different path, which likely did lead to a better second season than playing the sophomores who would have been available for him to recruit in the spring of his first year.

That could have very possibly been a good decision. But there's no question that it, and the decision to play transfers over his second-year freshmen, came at the cost of having no experienced upperclassmen in year four.
