Rivals rankings are skewed by numbers of recruits

Until you get to twenty recruits. After that, Rivals counts only a team's top 20 recruits in its calculations. If you don't have 20 yet, you get penalized. It definitely favors teams that oversign. And if those kids don't qualify and enroll, Rivals doesn't alter their rankings. Rivals used to release enrolled rankings, but they stopped doing that a few years ago. We often made those top 25 enrolled rankings, even when our initial ranking was in the 30-40 range. Of course that also doesn't take into account our player development, which others have observed far exceeded the performance our rankings would have suggested.
That may be why they stopped doing enrolled rankings. It made certain teams (and Rivals) look worse, and some of those teams have lots of subscribers.
