I agree with the basis of your post, but I would be careful about including 2017 at this point. Rivals team ratings overemphasize number of recruits in a class, and many of the teams ahead of us are there solely due to having more commitments at this point.

Texas only has 7 commits, 3 four stars and 4 three stars, yet is only a couple of places ahead of ku. Thus, take this year so far with a grain of salt.
