their bluff and played in Europe for millions and UW would been stuck with Romar. And look what happened with Mississippi State and their big man wanting out of his LOI. Most schools will let them out if they make a big enough stink and the #1 recruit wanting to move back home with his dad would be a huge stink. I think UW saw the main draw for fans next year walking out the door and decide they had to bite the bullet and fire their coach.
And I'm not saying Porter leaving was the main reason they fired him. HIs performance was the main reason. But the potential of losing the #1 recruit or having to put up with a public fight to try and retain him wasn't worth the hassle of retaining an under-performing coach.
