That is the Propaganda that has been spewed since FDR though.... The govt will take some of your money and put it in a Pile and bail the taxpayer out if some disaster happens.

But the issues is the Govt doesn't have the ability to not grift and shift those dollars to benefit themselves. First the Agency that regulates those funds becomes self serving and it's own fiefdom and then Political factions want to dip into the pile for various reasons as well. And then sadly there is no funds when needed.
