The US lacks elite soccer not because of a lack of speed or athletics. We don’t solve the problem with bigger or better athletes, that isn’t how soccer works. The US needs to catch up in skill and creativity.
If Tyreek Hill had always practiced soccer instead of football he would still not be world class elite against people in other countries who grew up developing their skill and creativity by playing. The difference is play vs practice, not that we need a different type of athlete.
