success of CM's first season, the responsibility for program underachievement was on CM far more so than KA. He was able to build a winner out of the program immediately (if just for a year) but it was CM that was also unable to sustain the momentum he created. I would attribute as much of that failure to just really bad luck (especially the injuries the Porter brother sustained, the Barnett suspension during the NCAA) as much as I would any carry over from the KA days. In subsequent years, it was obvious that there are some major recruiting and player development/assessment issues with CM's program. I will agree that KA's tenure has lowered the bar as to what is acceptable.
