magnitude of the rebuild was as challenging as stated. No doubt Kim Anderson put the program in dire consequences but Martin inherited the two best players from the Anderson era in Puryear and Barnett along with an improving and serviceable guard in Geist. He added Jontay Porter, Robertson and Tilmon. While young and not that deep, and even without the star recruit, that team had a fairly impressive starting 5 and was better than a lot of SEC teams.
To me, it shows how quickly a program can actually overcome a poor coaching decision like KA. For whatever reasons, Martin was not able to sustain any success at Mizzou but he got past the hole Anderson had dug for the program in that first year alone.
