We know that witness testimony is highly suspect. Wouldn’t we expect accounts of anything from different sources to have slight irregularities?
Why can’t an all knowing all powerful God grieve and have regrets? Every parent has had this happen when they were forced to punish their child. Even though you know doing so is 100% correct and in the best interest of your child it still hurts you to see them in pain. Especially when the child sees you as the one causing their pain. If you refuse to cause this pain you are a bad parent, if you are too free with it you are also a bad parent. It is a fine line we walk and we often regret our actions even when we feel they were needed.
