mutually exclusive things simultaneously:
1. The colored people are not monolithic. The colored population is a wonderfully diverse panoply of backgrounds, ideologies, experiences and personalities. It is wrong, racist even (duh) to suggest otherwise.
2. There is a strong and rich history of "black culture" that requires respect admiration and acknowledgment. And of course, adherence to black social construct. Blacks who stray from the dictates of black culture and exhibit too much diversity are shunned and even attacked by other colored people in the "diverse" black community.
So while they are very different and wonderfully diverse, they are united by unbreakable bonds of blackness.
