is to:
Make speeches, as many as possible. Express sadness and outrage.
Have meetings. Maybe call them Monday accountability meetings. Something catchy like that.
Have marches. Be sure there are signs and banners.
Blame inanimate objects.
Blame drug laws.
Point the finger at other people.
Blame slavery, Jim Crowe, discrimination.
Release recidivist offenders and criminals with long histories of violent acts back on the street. This country incarcerates too many young black males. They need to be on the street so they can go to Princeton.
Blame the founders of our country and the country itself.
Blame systemic or institutional racism.
Blame mental health facilities and the lack of adequate healthcare.
Blame a shortage of funds to solve the problem. This is very important.
Blame Donald Trump.
The most important thing of course is to under no circumstances, blame of the persons committing the violent acts. It’s not their fault. They are victims as much as the people they are callously shooting down in the street.
I’m sorry, was your question, what can politicians do to solve the crime problem… Or was it, what can politicians do to use the crime problem to continually get reelected and do absolutely nothing?
