I mean, what politician or hell, for that matter, any person, who thinks that they might be under investigation, wouldn't consider alternatives that might get them out from under it? I don't think that's criminal, I think it's rational.

But then you have to consider the consequences. Clearly, Trump doesn't do much of that - he's impetuous. But his supporting staff clearly did and they kept him from a big mistake.
