the United States, falsely accused of the crime of conspiracy/collusion we now know he did not commit.
The President has a sworn obligation to protect the country and the executive branch. And he has certain absolute constitutional executive powers he can exercise at any time that he feels necessary.
He had the legal, presidential authority to fire Mueller and end the investigation if he wanted to.
Trump chose not to
But even if he had... that would be perfectly legal. perfectly constitutional. And no crime of obstruction could be considered.
Because of his innocence of the collusion accusations... he would have been perfectly allowed, under law, to use his presidential powers to protect the presidency. protect the country from a coup attempt. Protect the voters. Protect the law.
Because intent would not have been to stop an investigation from crimes he did commit.
It would have been to stop a obvious attempt by political enemies (both domestic and foreign) from overthrowing the gov't
Barr has set this up wonderfully.
Anybody notice earlier when he refereed to evidence in Mueller's report he stated "evidence produced" not "evidence found" or "evidence discovered"
The coup is over, even if there are soldiers that didn't get their cease fire memo.
And now... the tables have turned.
The Democrats are going to have to explain to the American people why the should accept their attempt to overthrow the government over silly, disgusting and obvious lies
