But in any event, your belief in that regard structures and molds your beliefs about many other things, including, of course, the meaning of life, morality and so on.
Your beliefs affect how you vote, no?
Friedrich Nietzsche was an atheist too, and his beliefs logically led to the conclusion that morals are not only unnecessary constraints on man, but are themselves counterproductive. He posited that people would be better off jettisoning morals and that an Ubermensch not so constrained would be superior to the superstitious held back by their made up moral values. It was all survival of the fittest... a Darwinian morality for men, just as is the case in the animal world. Kill or be killed. Impose your will on others before they could impose their wills upon you.
Do you agree with him? Why, or why not?
Do you grant him more leeway in shaping the rules of society than you would a superstitious Christian or Jew?
