at church yesterday that all of the tax decrease given to the rich could wipe out all student loan debt. I told her that may be the case. But the difference being all of that money is now being returned to the people who earned it. Not being given to someone else who made a decision to go into debt, even if for a good reason. That was a key distinction.

She argued that paying off the debt would make so many feel so good. I agreed, but again reminded her that would be done based on the work and contributions of other people, and I asked if she really felt that would be fair.

She conceded it would not. Reason versus emotion. We need more of that.
