people with the right to determine the rules they choose to live by. You refuse to accept something that is basic to human culture and has been for most of recorded history.

I don't think you understand what the melting pot theory is. It does not force us to accept everyone who washes up on our shores. It simply suggest that those we take in become part of our collective culture.
