It was not necessary for Jews to "believe" in El or Yahweh, God, but only to live by God's Laws. If you lived by God's Laws as a Jew, that was enough. Faith played no role.
Jesus tells us to put the Spirit before the flesh. That is a lesson hard-learned. You cannot serve two masters.
Self-LESS-ness brings you home. The Avatar Meher Baba wrote brilliantly on that. And his words ring of Christmas a little. That once man realizes the utter joy of GIVING, he will want nothing more in life than to give. Ahhhhh.
