been jammed from everyone calling in the area.

i worked for AmEx at the time, taking calls from the NE area, mainly NY/NJ. sweet job as a 19yr old. our call volume dropped like 85% during that time. i remember thinking there was a decent possibility i chatted with someone just days/hours earlier than they were killed.
