I can't say that 6 wins would definitely be sufficient

There could be scenarios where we win 6 early with hot shooting and then lose 10 straight and Phillips and Puryear transfer.

But assuming all things are equal, 6-7 wins would indicate to me a team that is transitioning from the cellar to possible contender. I would err on not upsetting the apple cart in that case, and see how they do in year 4.
