haters, the issue is that Kim's age means he doesn't have time to build for the long term. Kim's prep to be a D1 coach was better than a lot of D1 coaches. You can start with Roy Wililams. Kim had more experience than Roy did.
His age has absolutely nothing to do with his preparation or anything on the front end. It only applies on the back end when you debate how long he could stay here and how that parlays into how long you can let him take to build up. In this scenario, it would be no different than hiring Rice because Rice would not stay here long term.
Hiring Kim Anderson should be looked at with the same gameplan as when the football program hired Larry Smith. The original plan for Larry was for him to turn the program around in 3-4 years and then retire, allowing somebody else to take over and take us to the next level. Kim Anderson will turn things around, making the job more attractive to the next quality coach we want to hire so he can take it to the next level. Kim is not going to make us a FF contender, but he will make us a competitive and solid program that another good coach would want to take over. Unlike Mike and Frank who left a program with all sorts of disfunction.
