Someone down below noted that King Rice, HC at Monmouth, won 28 games last year and might be a hot ticket as this season moves along. If you do a little more research on Rice's tenure, however, you learn his success did not happen with a snap of the fingers.
In his first three seasons, Monmouth went 12-20, 10-21, 11-21 -- three straight 20-loss seasons. In year four, the Hawks finally climbed over .500 to 18-15, before breaking through with a 28-8 record last year. His overall record is 79-85.
Seems odd that Mizzou fans find King Rice an attractive coaching candidate when his first three years were all flops, and he was not coaching in a league anything like the SEC.
Monmouth has an excellent coach because they gave him a chance. Why do so many Mizzou fans want to can Kim Anderson without giving him the kind of chance King Rice got?
