Oats was a HS coach, an assistant for two years, and had four years as a head coach. Gates was a D1 assistant for 15 years prior to becoming a head coach.

Both won their conference twice, Gates two of three years, Oats two of four.

Oats’ only accomplishment that exceeded Gates’ was winning two (which granted is “multiple”) NCAA tournament first round games.

But you only labeled the black guy as a DEI hire. Why is that?
