i don't think he had much choice but to stick with cook

macon was clearly a bust and i'm not sure he had anyone else to play other than cook

either way his apparent refusal to give the backups any meaningful playing time effectively paints him into a corner. we could argue (and i think many did) that he should have been giving cook more game reps to get him ready to take over. maybe cook's early struggles could have been avoided had drink done a better job bringing him along.
