First and foremost. This isn't about Drink sitting in a room by himself, looking at film of high school QB's and thinking this guy might be good.
That said this is a collective effort with Moore and the entire staff. They visit high schools, do their due diligence. Ask yourself where Cook would be with Odom as coach still.
Call me crazy but any player and the development of their ability in a particular position is a two way street.
1) the kids work ethic once he gets on campus. Does he want to learn, does he seem to have a sense of entitlement, how does he blend in with coaches and players
2) does the staff put him the best situation for the team in order to maximize his abilities.
Without going down the complete list, if a few of those guys leave the team, were they not given a fair shot ? They would probably say no. But what's the truth ? Does Drink play favorites ? If so Sam Horn probably gotten many more snaps last last year b/c he seemed to be a favorite of the fans, and maybe of Drinks given his ability as a highly touted QB coming out of high school.
If anything Brady seemed like just a so-so QB until you surrounded him with more talent then, shock of shocks, he looked very good. AND a consistent OC who made use of his talents with his arm and his legs.
To sum up, if Drink CAN'T judge QB talent then neither can about every other CFB coach since pretty much everyone wanted the same guys coming out of high school as we did.
You may have too much football in your life.
