Colorado jumped out to a 24-10 halftime lead over Mizzou with long receptions by Cliff Branch and Devine used the Tiger’s passing game to catch up.
For whatever reason, Mizzou’s Moore and Harrison gained yardage between the twenty yard lines, but Devine called pass plays in the red zone that resulted in interceptions. Some observers blamed Mizzou not being able to cope with Penn St. changing their defense inside the twenty, but others swear that Paterno had sent spies to watch Mizzou practices and knew our pass plays.
