was the greatest Tiger to wear #45.
Joe was our feature back when Mizzou won its last conference championship in 1969. His 1312 yards from his junior year stood as the Mizzou record for 19 years. A shoulder injury from a clean, but massive hit in the 1970 Nebraska game ended his senior year. Despite that, the Chicago Bears made him their first round pick…the 11th pick overall, and James Harrison was their second round pick. Chase Coffman was drafted in the third round by the Bengals…the 98th pick overall.
To put it into the proper perspective, Joe Moore was a leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy against the likes of Archie Manning, Joe Thiesmann, and the eventual winner, Jim Pluckett, before his injury.
