How have parades been over the decades?

The big difference in the NASCAR event and the SB parade is that NASCAR is charging for attendance, and generating millions from the viewship, so they have the $$ to tightly control the environment. The City is picking up the tab for security at the parade and it would cost several times what they are currently spending to "lock it down."
