Bennett at Virginia. Had poor by his standards defenses his first 2 seasons. In the 70’s. He’s also been elite since then.
Mike Anderson and Bruce Pearl are also coaches that had defensive systems that took 3-4 years before they worked.

There’s no guarantee that Gates system will work, although it does at FSU. I would like to see if it’s about the roster and talent first before jumping ship.
