is... the Big 10 was the only conference that came out and publicly announced they were expanding.
The only two conferences that would really make any sense for Mizzou would be the Big 10 or the SEC.
And as far as anyone knew... they were adding a 12th team and that's it.
The SEC wasn't even an option.
And the SEC wasn't making any moves until after conference realignment blew up the Big 12.
So it made perfect sense to want the Big 10 at that time. It was a better option than staying in Texas' Big 12.
But to have the dominoes fall the way it did, and end up in the SEC was the BEST possible scenario for Mizzou. Best ever.
And frankly, the only people that really ever desperately desired the Big 10 were the academia elites that were infatuated with their supposed education prowess. But in the real its about sports. And more accurately, its about football. The far majority or Mizzou fans, alumn, are drop dead in love with the SEC. And they would have to pry it from our dead cold hands to try and move.
Had both the Big 10 and SEC both said at the same time that they were looking to expand, it would have been a very different approach.
