believe there is an inexorable march to four (4) Super power conferences consisting of 16 teams. They will be the ACC, B1G, SEC and the new PAC 16. It is likely there will be new media players in addition to CBS, ESPN and Fox sports not tied to cable subscription. New money all with a focus on content. It is this content that will drive expansion. With four P4 conferences you will likely see a 4 team pod with 9 conference games format scheduling.
The PAC 12 to expand must go eastward. Westward there is Hawaii (not likely), In the mountain region there is BYU and Boise State (neither are likely but in the new round of horse trading, who really knows?). Eastward there is Texas and Oklahoma who will take with them Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. (most likely) Having said that, ESPN controls the Longhorn network (LHN) and will likely be the catalyst and facilitator to where ever Texas ultimately winds up.
It is this expansion that will be the catalyst that motivates the other networks and media entities to form four Super power conferences mostly at the expense of the former Big XII conference.
