I do believe probable cause can come from statements

What I don't believe is that driving another person's vehicle, alone, is probable cause for a search. As for the rest of your hypothetical here, there is still no probable cause to search for drugs. Remember my first post about it be causally related to the item searched for??
Obviously, the disconnect in this discussion started with your misunderstanding of what "probable cause" is needed for. As probable cause is not needed for "further investigation"; it is needed for a search.
