So, borrowing your friend's car makes you susceptible to searches for anything? What about a spouse driving the car legally titled to the other spouse?
At the risk of sounding obvious, the probable cause has to be causally related to the search. Someone besides the record owner driving a car has no causal relation to the probability of drugs.
For that matter, why should the police know the record owner of the vehicle for any reason whatsoever? It's none of their business on a simple traffic stop.
There are three takeaways from your post, imo:
1. End the war on drugs, so these ridiculous nuances can be laid to rest.
2. Privatize roads, so that traffic violations are held contractually, instead of as high stakes games that could potentially ruin someone's life
3. Decentralize power, so hip shooters like yourself don't get to make ridiculous rules that apply to other people
