statements made to officers?
I am in a stolen car and an officer pulls me over for speeding. No probable cause to search me or the car. Officer asks me for lisence and registration. I give him my lisence and the owners registration from the glove box. They obviously don’t match. Still no probable cause to search. Officer ask where I got the car. I got the owners name from the registration and give him that name. Officer asks where my friend lives and not being prepared I give him a made up address that does not match the registration. Cop is suspicious. May or may not be probable cause yet. As he continues to ask questions he starts to focus more one me than the answers. I am now agitated and starting to fidget. At this point the cop has probable cause to search the car IMO
He did not have probable cause to search when he pulled me over but over the course of his interview it developed.
