Never mind the dangling participle, that statement is just plain bogus. No student athlete is here to excel at just one thing. They are here to excel at multiple things at once. They are no here playing semi-pro or pro sports. They are brought on campus as student athletes, with a requirement that they make progress toward graduation. They are expected to excel in their personal representation of the school as an institution as well. They are expected to be good citizens, and contributors to the well being of the university and the community, by their good conduct and example in the classroom, on the field or court of competition, and in the community service outreaches with which they are involved.
