Neither do you. You are assuming the negative, based upon his plans to go to the NBA before graduating. That is a bogus assumption. His family is highly committed to education, and there is no legitimate reason to believe he is going to abandon the pursuit of education just because he goes to play the NBA at a young age. Many athletes get degrees while or after participating in pro sports at the professional level.
