There already is a contractual arrangement in place
Your objection is the contract is non negotiable
Individually negotiated contracts would be a nightmare. I cannot possibly imagine an orderly scenario, esp given the recruiting frenzy that already takes place
If someone would come up with a list of circumstances in which there would be "outs" for both parties, it would be worth looking at. But any such amendments would have to avoid a mass exodus of players in any one year, or you'd have a major mess on your hands like what happened at SMU
