You can list plenty of 2-low 3 stars at most schools that panned out. Just look at NFL rosters.

That we signed those guys and they worked out, doesn't change the fact that we have a terrible record against the best opponents. 0-4 in CCGs and only one win vs OU and Texas. We simply have not been competitive . Not to mention inconsistency from year to year against the mediocre teams and in the easiest division in both B12 and SEC

If you want to win and try to win big, then recruiting was going to have to step up. It didn't and it hasn't.
