multiplier when it comes to sentencing.

A teacher who abuses a student is much worse that the creepy neighborhood guy who does the same thing.

The entire BLM movement is based, rightly or wrongly, on mistrust of the criminal justice system. As a society is is very important that we trust in and believe our social institutions. Any crime that undercuts that trust is much worse than the crime itself.

Politicians, LEOs, teachers and a few other professions have positions of public trust. If those people commit a crime that harms that public trust then they need to be dealt with more severely.
