But the odds are incredibly slim to do so and rarely occur at the P5 level.

Lon Kruger and Bo Ryan fall into this "incredibly slim" category. Using Bo Ryan and Lon Kruger as examples to prove that rankings don't matter is dumb. They are hall of fame coaches and have proven they can coach up lower rated recruits. Kim is an average coach. The LARGE majority of P5 schools require constant high level recruiting to make the tourney. Lon Kruger and Bo Ryan are the exceptions to this rule.
