His 3 non-cons were:
2014: 12-1 ; 1 point loss in Braggin Rights game ; wins over W. Virginia, UCLA, NC State ; finished non-con ranked #21
2013: 11-2 ; overtime road loss to UCLA, loss to eventual national champion Louisville ; wins over Stanford, VCU, Illinois, Bucknell ; finished non-con ranked #12
2012: 13-0, no losses ; wins over Notre Dame, Cal, Villanova, Illinois ; finished non-con ranked #8
Combined non-con of 36-3. The problem is outside of 2011-12 the Tigers faltered mightily in once conference play started, finishing only 14 games over .500 in conference play in that era for a combined record of 34-20. That resulted in a 2nd, 5th, and 6th place conference finish.
MU is currently 24 games below .500 in conference play under Kim. If they can manage to finish 9-9 in SEC play this season, they will remain only 24 games below .500 in conference play during this era and end the streak of only finished 14th. Last year a 16-16 Arkansas team that failed to make any postseason finished in a tie for 8th place in the SEC by going 9-9 in conference play. It’s a very low benchmark to try and obtain.
