Which might have been remotely successful about 30 years ago. He wants guys who will be cohesive, stay all four years, buy into the program, grow together, and become a "real team". I respect that. In today's game, it will never get you anywhere unless you have real talent, especially in the front court. We have absolutely nobody on the roster who projects even marginally, as an all-conference type player. Perhaps Puryear as a senior when he scores 17 ppg out of necessity but cant rebound or defend. We have a host of guys who might score a lot of points because somebody has to. They are all wing players who are marginally talented.
Our current roster is not equipped to be remotely competitive against SEC teams. If we keep them together, we might start doing better in a year or two, but we are not going too be competive as we used to know it. I could see them making an NIT in a few years but they simply dont have any big men, and it looks like we are focusing on more wings for next year.
