Many freshmen have never been asked to do more than score on their high school teams.

Many don't have the first clue of defensive fundamentals.

Energy and hustle are on them. I agree.

The first couple months of learning to play fundamental defense can be daunting for young players. Speed and strength of college are hard to adjust too.

Gant had no heart or hustle and really didn't care about playing defense at a high level.
